~Logging in Problems~
I had problems logging in the day after I joined. I was able to log in fine the first day and then I got page not found. It ended up I had some sort of spyware that was blocking the page. I ran a few spy programs and a virus scan and then I was good to go
see if you have a pop up stopper installed and hold CTRL button down when you logs in....or see if a firewall is blocking your site
There are several possibilities, all having to do with browsers or IP. First, if that page works off a java script and you do not have java checked in your browser options, that might be it. Also clear your temporary internet files and then try to login again. It could be a cache problem. Also, if all else fails download the Mozilla/Firebird browser and try it with a different browser other IE. If that fails, there may be a problem between your IP and yours
I have had a problem
with AOL and IE for accessing another site... in 5 years
of internet use, this was the first time anything had
gone differently.
I had to install "Firefox" browser (FREE)
http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/
you might have a redirect trojan or something like that best thing to do is scan with as many diffrent online scanners as she can the two I use the most are.
I also have spy sweeper I highly recommend it, it stops search engines from hijacking your start page. I also use Spyware blaster and ad-aware.
And here are a couple of great places to get help if needed {you can do a hijack its a program that lets you see what has taken over or snuck into your PC with out you knowing} These forums are a big help they have a lot of very talented smart people just explain the problem to them and most times they can help.
Your security settings may be too high... if you are using Internet Explorer, you will have to go to your internet options and then choose security settings and then selecting the lowest level of security, if that works, that is your problem.... the default settings should be medium. also want to clear your temporary internet files, cookies and clear history
check your security settings. It could be that you are not able to go to secure sites. If this is the case, you will get page not found. I don't know what version you are running, but some times on that error page, you can go up to the drop down menu for help on internet explorer, and then click on about Internet explorer. Then there will be a pop up box that will show different parts of IE. One of them is Cipher Strength. It should read 128 bit, and if it doesn't, it should be clickable so that she can see what to do about it. If you are running any other browser, it could still be the security settings
I have McAfee and had that problem. try holding down the Ctrl key when you click the button/link, if the page comes up, that's the problem. You can then go into your protection program and either turn off or adjust the settings for pop up controls. I wouldn't suggest turning if off, but, you can set it to accept popups from your site. Many times, anything that opens in a new window is considered a pop up by protection programs
Thank you to all who sent me these answers to try to help ;)
